Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission is in DOC, DOCX, JPG/JPEG, or PDF format.
  • My name is not included anywhere in the text of the submission document.
  • Only the title appears on the submission document.
  • I have used the correct font and font size for my submission (12pt, Times New Roman for poetry and prose submissions; 12pt. Courier font for short plays and screenplays).

Author Guidelines

AUNT CHLOE seeks poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, short plays and screenplays, songs, visual art, and hybrid texts pertaining to: Identity, Social Justice, Possible Futures, Freedom, . . . any creative or visionary work that is meaningful to the soul.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME ANYWHERE ON THE WORK; instead, the system will record your name and the genre of the work.  (MAKE SURE THAT THE TITLE—ONLY—APPEARS ON THE WORK ITSELF.)

Poetry and prose should use an easily readable 12pt font (e.g., Times New Roman, Calibri); short plays and screenplays, however, should use 12pt, Courier font and be a maximum of 20 pages in length—Limit of 5 works per person or collaborative team.

Art and photography submissions should include title of the work and credits (e.g., artist, photographer, creative director, and other contributor(s) or subject(s)—if appropriate), and should adhere to a limit of 1500-2500 pixels (dpi)—Limit of 5 works per person or collaborative team.

All written material should use .doc or .docx file extension; visual art and mixed media submissions should use .jpg/.jpeg or PDF file extension.
